Melanie Hall brings more than twenty years of expertise in children’s health to complement the 180 team. Melanie began her career in a clinical setting in children’s hospitals and, through that experience, developed a passion for the protection of children’s health and safety. Along with writing curricula, she has developed prevention programming, created innovative outreach strategies and led one of the most successful child advocacy programs in the country.
In her role as Director of Advocacy for a children’s hospital, Melanie has also worked to help pass legislation that positively affects children’s well-being. Understanding that addressing public policy is crucial to creating broad-based change, Melanie has provided advocacy leadership at the state and federal level to address issues as child passenger safety, water safety and access to children’s health insurance. Her interest in childhood obesity prevention developed from working directly with families and pediatricians looking for effective ways to address this growing threat to children’s health.
Melanie serves on the Boards of Directors of several community organizations, chairs the nationally recognized Florida Covering Kids and Families Coalition and owns msh consulting, llc, a consulting firm focused on non-profit planning.
Melanie has a B.S. in Biology, a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. A native Floridian, she lives with her husband, two children, a high-maintenance Chow Chow named Chelsea and an attack rabbit named Lulubelle.
